SILK DAMASK “TRANSITION” PARASOL
Using an artistic, and creative license, this is a reproduction parasol that transitions between late Regency, into very early years of the Victorian Period. A few details attributed to both eras, have been combined in this parasol, for flexibility in re-enactment activities for these time periods.
The canopy is patterned silk damask, with tea-stained (nylon-based) fringe. The ‘knobbly’ trim above the fringe is attached to the lower edge of the canopy, with each section hand-sewn, knotted, and threads buried.
The handle is solid walnut, with a minimum of 3 coats of matte-varathane. The frame is dark-brown wood, with black metal ribs, and manual open.
Please note: I do not use antique frames for my parasols, as I believe antique parasols (or any antique item) should be cared for, and kept for future generations. I use frames that I have had custom-made to my specifications.
